About Project
Acorn recently completed this very interesting extension delivering a kitchen/dining room to replace an old conservatory, an old lean-to, and a very tired kitchen. The brief was for an elegant, glazed side extension to flood the new kitchen/diner with light. Acorn fully managed the project and coordinated the design detailing, working closely with several key partners including 1st Scenic Windows, Sunseeker and Designs In Resin.
The specification included wet underfloor heating with a new boiler to the extension and micro cement finishing to the interior floors. The new steel structure is expressed for an “industrial look” and the new party wall is faced with facing brick. The boiler flue is also expressed, adding to the look. The glass roof gutter is concealed behind polyester powder coated cladding matching the glass roof and window framing. The kitchen, fitted by Acorn, was supplied by Howdens. The worktops are also finished with micro cement.
Acorn also carried out other works including the new porcelain tiled patio with new low yellow stock brick walls and steps separating the patio from the raised garden. We carried out significant repairs to the existing roof and side elevation above the new glass roof, which would be awkward to maintain in the future. We enjoyed the cooperation of the immediate neighbours and carried out the works for both. The result is a lovely, bright, kitchen diner for our customers that respects the quirks of a late Victorian home
